Rivers flea market a first

Heather Gray, Betty MacDonald and Barb Plewes co-ordinated a Christmas event in Rivers on Sunday, Dec. 7. Held at Rivers Legion, the six-hour flea market was attended by 28 vendors and several generous patrons.

Via needed police assistance

November saw Rivers Police Service host a town hall meeting; there will be an official report forthcoming. From this report a strategic plan will be implemented. Traffic enforcement was one of the topics brought up and the intersection at Second and Colombia where vehicles are parking too close to the curb, making it difficult to see when travelling north.

Anglicans enjoy food and fellowship

St. James’ Anglican Church’s annual pre-Christmas social was held Tuesday evening, Dec. 2 in Shelly Moms Kitchen. Present for the banquet supper and fellowship were clergy from St. Matthew’s Cathedral, namely Paul and Jean Curtis, Nigel and Barb Packwood and their daughter. Paul and Nigel are former ministers at St. James’ in Rivers.

Celebrating the season of Advent

In preparation for Christmas, Rivers United Church continues to joyously celebrate the season of Advent. Because of the many people who generously supported Ten Thousand Villages when they came to our church last month, they made more than $1,000 in sales!
