Multi-million dollar investment at Riding Mountain National Park

The federal government has announced new investment into Riding Moutain National Park. The funding, unveiled today by Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette Member of Parliament Robert Sopuck, is for more than $39 million and is designed to renew infrastructure and support Canada鈥檚 National Conservation Plan.

The initial plan for the investment will see $36.5 million distributed over five years for the resurfacing of Highway Ten. $2.7 million has been set aside for the expansion of water and electrical utility services for about 200 sites at Wasagaming campground. There will also be improvements made to washroom buildings and picnic shelters.

In a press release on the announcment, M.P. Robert Sopuck noted that the federal government is very pleased to be a part of this commitment.

鈥淥ur government is proud to be making record investments in Parks Canada sites across the country,鈥 said Sopuck. 鈥淚nvestments like these in Riding Mountain National Park are encouraging job creation and economic growth, while taking tangible actions to help Canadians connect with this incredible national park.鈥
