There are four blocks of angle parking in Rivers. Two are along Main Street and two on Second Avenue. All four blocks have double lines down the centre of the street. Research has shown that parking at a 60 degrees angle to the curb is the sweet spot for safety. Less than this makes it more difficult to look over your right shoulder when backing out. Angles greater than 60 degrees causes your car to go into the opposite lane when backing up.

It鈥檚 hard to believe, but the Kia Sportage is actually the longest serving model in Kia鈥檚 range, having been around since 1993. In fact, it pre-dates segment bestsellers such as Ford Escape, Honda CRV and Toyota RAV4 by as much as seven years! In the early days, it was viewed as a budget alternative to those vehicles, but now in its 24th year, the all-new fourth generation 2017 Kia Sportage looks and feels like an upscale product inside and out and aims to hit the competition where it hurts.

This coming weekend, both the Liberal Party of Canada and the Conservative Party of Canada are holding policy conventions. The Liberals are in Winnipeg and the Conservatives are in Vancouver. Ironically, both are debating membership fees. The Libs are possibly going to make membership free and the Conservatives have been debating raising the annual fee to somewhere near the actual cost of processing the membership.

Last weekend, I ended up spending a few hours digging through some family history. It was an interesting trip into photo albums, scrap books, envelopes of old pictures and newspaper clippings. Most were from well before my time and I wished I knew the answers to my questions; Who are all the people in the photos? Where and when was the photo taken? What was significant about the event? Without context, they were just interesting novelties.

The Neepawa Banner
With reluctance but with wisdom, I chose to stay on the barge, the Elodie, for Wednesday. We had docked in Delft and first thing in the morning, we crossed the street and toured the Delft ceramic factory. Watching the craftsmen at work, meticulously hand painting the designs, I gained a clear understanding that the asking price for any true piece is fair. Another one of the tour group also stayed on board and we had a fantastic time, swapping stories and getting to know each other. The group arrived back at the barge, now at Leiden, by mid afternoon and so Marie and I went for a lengthy walkabout.
