Right in the centre - Misguided leadership

At the time of this writing, the SNC-Lavalin scandal is looking a lot like a sinkhole for the Trudeau Liberal federal government. As this column is being put together, two women cabinet ministers have resigned, namely, Jody Wilson-Reybould and Jane Phillpott. I mention they are women cabinet ministers, as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made such a special mention of having a large number of women in his cabinet. At the get-go, that was a mistake. Appointing them was not the mistake, but to point out that they were women was. As soon as a politician gets into quota politics, it is assumed that the quota is the qualification and not the skill-set the appointee may have. Trudeau was willing to boast that he appointed women, so now that he is losing women cabinet ministers, he can wear equal amounts of shame upon their departure.

My perspective - Health care, right around the corner

In communities across the province, 水果视频ns don鈥檛 have easy access to health care. Physician shortages have left many without a family doctor and ER closures have moved health care that鈥檚 accessible on short notice further down the highway.

Lewis observed: 鈥淲hat Satan put into the heads of our remote ancestors was the idea that they could 鈥榖e like gods鈥欌 could set up on their own as if they had created themselves鈥 be their own masters鈥 invent some sort of happiness for themselves outside God, apart from God. And out of that hopeless attempt has come nearly all that we call human history鈥 money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery鈥 the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.鈥

In the dystopian stories of the last half century, everyone assumed it would be the machines that rose up and destroyed life as we know it.  I own a robotic vacuum, I know that future is a long way off. But what if our downfall will come from tech companies, run by everyday humans? I鈥檓 no Luddite, but increasingly, I feel that we have been thinking of technology companies all wrong鈥 they鈥檙e not like us.
