If you work in media, you鈥檝e heard this phrase. Maybe a lot. In fact, you鈥檝e probably heard it almost every time you鈥檝e contacted media relations, at the provincial government at least. It is this phrase that translates into the commonly referenced 鈥淎 department official鈥� or 鈥淎 government spokesperson鈥�.

I heard a great new song last weekend, new to me and it鈥檚 a relatively new song, written by Chris Tomlin. It speaks of hope and promise for any people in any location. I can鈥檛 think of a more appropriate message for us today, in Canada, in 水果视频 and in this area particularly. We have great potential, but in spite of all the potential we are faced with, there is a condition and it is expressed clearly in this song. It鈥檚 written in modern words, by a present writer.

The following is an edited version of a column from May 25, 2018. With two elections looming, these words are even more valid today.
It works like this in Canada. A person can pick a political party, pay a small membership fee and become a member. That membership obtains the privilege of attending the general meetings, the ability to vote for a candidate nominee and to vote for party leader. It also allows you to attend (for a fee) the policy conventions. It鈥檚 a pretty simple system.

This is always an exciting time in Neepawa鈥� last week, after months of hard work and practice, students at Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute took to the stage for the biennial major production. This week, the students at Hazel M Kellington elementary school will perform their annual Operetta. Across the region, students are taking to the stages and galleries to perform and showcase the culmination of a year鈥檚 worth of hard work.
