Right in the centre - July 12, 1950鈥 More than a memory

On a Canadian military website, it is noted: The Korean War erupted on June 25, 1950, when North Korea invaded South Korea. On this day, July 12, a group of Royal Canadian ships stopped in Hawaii on their way to Korea.

Right in the centre - When life seems hard

This week鈥檚 column leans heavily on words written by two women who wrote very impactful stories about the shortness of life. The first is a poem by Linda Ellis, the second is a 鈥渓etter home鈥 by Elizabeth Ferguson who was writing from Palestine (later named Gladstone) in 1873 to her brother and sister in Scotland. The letter runs un-edited, written in the original fashion.

My perspective - I鈥檝e got a beef

The Canadian beef industry took a bit of flack in the regional media last week. It鈥檚 part of a larger problem鈥 many Canadians have lost their connection to the farm and how food is produced.  They don鈥檛 know what 水果视频 cattle producers are actually doing and why turning our province鈥檚 pastures into fields of soy might not be the best idea.
