Residents of the Town of Minnedosa have been asked to restrict their sewer usage effective immediately. This notice was originally put out by the Town of Minnedosa Wednesday, Nov. 6, and includes the use of toilets, showers, laundry, etc.
The cause for this announcement was the major failure of some equipment in the Main Lift Station. Further details provided to the Neepawa Banner & Press by chief administrative officer Danniele Carriere, the failure occurred with two pumps within the station.
These pumps pump the sewage to the lagoons.
鈥淭hese pumps are special order specific to municipal list station requirements. Unfortunately, this is not equipment that can be sourced from a hardware store,鈥 Carriere explained. 鈥淭he Town recognizes the frustration the community is feeling. We have been working tirelessly to remove the sewage with vac trucks and dispose of same at the lagoons.鈥
Carriere added, 鈥淭he Community has stepped up and reduced their sewage usage and we Thank everyone for all the measures they taken to alleviate the system.鈥
The Town of Minnedosa will be working on a temporary fix today, Nov. 8.
鈥淲e are hopeful the temporary fix will remove the restrictions,鈥 said Carriere.
Until an update has been sent out by the Town of Minnedosa, all residents are asked to continue restricting their sewer usage.
Providing a final comment, Carriere wished to remind the community of Minnedosa鈥檚 Emergency Alert System鈥 Connect.
鈥淭he system is in place to send out alerts by way of text message, voice call and email. To register, visit the Town鈥檚 website or call the office for assistance,鈥 said Carriere. 鈥淎lerts have been sent multiple times a day to inform the community.鈥
