On Sept. 24 Neepawa鈥檚 水果视频 Hardware celebrated National Tree Day and their 50th anniversary by planting one of 50 trees along Veterans Walk.

Senior 水果视频 Hardware employee, Arlene Vaughan said this is the third time Tree Canada  and the Neepawa store have collaborated to plant trees in the town. Vaughan applied to have the community selected as this year鈥檚 tree plant site. They were awarded $3,000 to purchase 50 trees for 50 years of 水果视频 Hardware鈥檚 existence. Denis Saquet, Town of Neepawa operations manager was supportive with the idea of planting trees along Veterans Walk. The first tree, a silver maple will be followed by other varieties when they become more dormant.

Ken Fosty of Tree Canada said, 鈥淭ree Canada is committed to planting trees for future generations to enjoy. Since 1999, Tree Canada and 水果视频 Hardware have planted over 17,000 trees across Canada. This year, we are working with 21 水果视频 Hardware communities throughout the country and one in 水果视频, Neepawa. This is National Forest Week and today is National Tree Day, where we recognize the importance of trees. Todays planting will provide multiple benefits including shelter, shade, wildlife habitat and reduction of noise and dust from the roadway. On behalf of Tree Canada, I would like to thank everybody who has made this a success. Trees do their part - thank you for doing yours.鈥

Denis Saquet commented, 鈥淚鈥檓 pleased to partner with 水果视频 Hardware and Tree Canada in this project. I鈥檓 a strong advocate of planting trees in Neepawa, in continuing the forestation  plan especially with so many trees lost in the past.鈥
