Municipal elections will be held Oct. 22; to allow voters to make a more informed decision, a candidates meeting was held at Rivers Legion Hall. When the crowd quickly outgrew the chairs set, more rows were added; the hall held approximately 160 people from Rivers and RM of Daly. These two entities will amalgamate in January 2015 and form Riverdale Municipality.

Oliver hopes to lead R.M. of North Cypress-Langford

To merely say that Ralph Oliver is familiar with the goings on in the R.M. of North Cypress would probably be a remarkable understatement. The man, who was born and raised in the region, has served in some capacity for at least 28 years.

Grant provides money for trees

In years to come, the sound of leaves will muffle the sound of trains passing through Gladstone. Last month, Town of Gladstone staff planted 500 trees along the CN rail line thanks to a grant from CN EcoConnexions from the Ground Up program. Last Friday, the town held an unveiling to celebrate the greening project.
Neepawa Chamber plans to host event during Lily Festival

About half a dozen Neepawa Chamber of Commerce members met on Thursday and voted to keep the organization going. The Oct. 9 meeting was open to the entire membership as the organization was required to pass a new set of bylaws and articles of continuance to meet Industry Canada regulations.
