Another ice cold evening on the power play as well as several missed opportunities turned out to be the undoing for the Neepawa Natives, as the team was defeated by the Dauphin Kings 4-3 at the Yellowhead Centre.

Stephen Mather, Vincent Currao and Riley Hillis all scored for Neepawa while goaltender Alex Henry was able to stop 29 of the 33 shots he faced. Natives Coach Dwayne Kirkup said the effort heading into the second and third period was good and they had a lot of chances but simply couldn't connect.

"We really outchanced them but we didn't outscore them and that's where it counts." said Kirkup.

Neepawa's power play also continues to be an issue, as the team went 0 for 5. Kirkup said that inability to connect with the man advantage was the deciding factor.

"Our power play wasn't good enough. We went 0 for 5 on the power play and [Dauphin] went two for three on their power play, so specialty teams was the difference to the game." said Kirkup.

The next game for the Neepawa Natives is set for Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Dauphin against the Kings.
